Official job portals in Tanzania: government and employer links we opened
For most government jobs, the portal is portal.ajira.go.tz. For Zanzibar it is portal.zanajira.go.tz. We opened every link below on 2 November 2026 and wrote down what the page showed that day, so you don't have to guess which address is real. Nobody should charge you to apply.
Government portals
- Ajira Portal, portal.ajira.go.tz: public service on the Mainland, run by the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat. Page loaded. PSRS notices say applications sent any other way won't be considered.
- ZanAjira, portal.zanajira.go.tz: public service in Zanzibar, linked from zanajira.go.tz. Page loaded.
- Mfumo wa Maombi ya Ajira, ajira.tamisemi.go.tz: local government applications. Page loaded.
- Police, ajira.tpf.go.tz: the page said Application Window Closed.
- TRA, tra.go.tz/vacancies: the page said there are no available vacancies at the moment.
- Bank of Tanzania, bot.go.tz/CareerOpportunities: the page said Hakuna nafasi za kazi kwa sasa, so no vacancies that day.
- Tanzania Ports Authority, ports.go.tz: a career page with general text. We saw no list of open posts on it.
- Work permits, epermit.kazi.go.tz: for employers applying for foreign staff, not for job seekers. Page loaded.
Employers with their own hiring sites
These are the sites our adverts came from. The number is how many adverts we have held from each, open and closed, on 1 November 2026.
- MeTL Group companies, makeyourmove.co.tz: 231 adverts, for A-One Products & Bottlers, Mohammed Enterprises, Mo Finance, MeTL BAJAJ and others.
- Sun King, sunking.pinpointhq.com: 18 adverts.
- Kilombero Sugar, kilomberosugar.co.tz: 17 adverts.
- Geita Gold Mining, on the AngloGold Ashanti careers site: 13 adverts.
- Dangote, careers.dangote.com: 10 adverts.
The employers page lists more, each with its open jobs and a link to the original source.
TANESCO and the portals people search for
People often search for a TANESCO recruitment portal. All 20 TANESCO adverts in our data came through ajira.go.tz. That is what we saw in our own data, and it isn't a statement that TANESCO has no other route, so check the notice.
We searched for a few other portals that we couldn't open or couldn't confirm. CRDB Bank's careers site, the source of 10 of our adverts, returned an error when we rechecked it on 2 November, NMB Bank's careers address refused our check the same day, the TANAPA site timed out, and we found no jobs page to confirm for TPDC. We leave them out rather than give you a link we haven't seen working. If you know the real address from the employer itself, use that.
How to tell if a portal is real
- A government portal in Tanzania ends in .go.tz. Look at the address bar, not the logo.
- Start from the employer's own website, or from this list, and not from a link in a WhatsApp forward.
- Don't pay anything to register or apply. Nobody should pay for a job.
- If a page says it is a government portal but asks for mobile money, close it.
- Check a notice against the portal before you act on it, using how to verify a recruitment offer. The job scam check takes two minutes.
Work.tz is not a government site. We list adverts and link you to the original source, and you apply there. The latest public posts are on government jobs in Tanzania.
If a portal won't load or won't let you in
Apply a few days before the closing date, so a slow page or a failed upload doesn't cost you the post. For the Ajira Portal, use the application checklist. The budget speech says its help desk served 42,770 people by phone and email in the period it reports. Don't make a second account: that is more likely to cause trouble than to fix it.

What is the official government job portal in Tanzania?
For the Mainland public service, portal.ajira.go.tz. For Zanzibar, portal.zanajira.go.tz.
Is ajira.go.tz the same as portal.ajira.go.tz?
Both belong to the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat. Notices are published through ajira.go.tz, and notices tell you to apply at portal.ajira.go.tz.
How often do you check these links?
This list is dated 2 November 2026. A page that says no vacancies today can change tomorrow.
Is Work.tz a government portal?
No. Work.tz is an independent job site. We list adverts and link you to the original source, and you apply there, free of charge.
What if a link here stops working?
Go to the employer's own website and look for its careers or vacancies page. Government addresses do change, so don't trust a copy of the page that someone forwards to you.
