Regional institutions

The East African Community Secretariat has its headquarters in Arusha, and the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals has a branch there. These bodies recruit through their own career pages and usually require specialist experience, but their suppliers, hotels and transport firms hire locally.

Tourism

Arusha is the gateway to the northern parks and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Tour operators, lodges and hotels hire drivers, guides, cooks, reservation staff and porters. Minimum wages from 1 January 2026 include TZS 320,000 a month for tour guides and TZS 225,000 for tourist porters. Kilimanjaro International Airport and Arusha Airport serve the area.

Many Arusha roles are field sales and credit jobs that cover several regions. Before you accept, ask how commission is paid, whether a basic salary is included, who pays for transport and airtime, and what happens if you miss a target.
