Who is hiring

On 27 September 2026, 172 of the 354 open roles on Work.tz were in Dar es Salaam. The METL Group had the largest share on its own careers portal, across Mohammed Enterprises, Mo Finance, A-One Products & Bottlers and MeTL Bajaj. Port, depots and trains

The Tanzania Ports Authority runs the port of Dar es Salaam and recruits for port operations, while clearing firms, transporters and depots around it hire drivers, clerks and warehouse staff. The Tanzania Railways Corporation runs electric SGR passenger trains from the city. Before you apply, ask for the exact work site: a depot or yard can be far from the address on the advert.

What the commute costs

LATRA fares for city buses (daladala) took effect on 1 May 2026: TZS 700 for a trip of up to 10 km, rising with distance to TZS 1,500 for 36 to 40 km. Students pay TZS 200. On the DART rapid buses (mwendokasi) the trunk fare is TZS 1,000, the feeder fare TZS 500 and the student fare TZS 200. Two daladala trips of TZS 700 a day come to TZS 30,800 over 22 working days.

The monthly minimum is TZS 200,000 in the industrial sector, TZS 197,000 for domestic security companies and TZS 375,000 in four and five star hotels.
