Factory work
About half of the Moshi factory adverts ask for one to three years of experience with a specific machine, and most of the rest ask for three to five. If you are new, look for trainee or helper roles and ask whether the employer trains operators. The minimum wage for the industrial sector is TZS 200,000 a month from 1 January 2026. Ask how shifts rotate and whether night shifts include transport.

Mountain tourism
Mount Kilimanjaro is managed by Tanzania National Parks, and climbing companies hire guides, porters and cooks. The minimum wage for tourist porters is TZS 225,000 a month. Work only with registered operators and ask for a written agreement before a climb.
