How to check a Tanzanian employer’s business details with BRELA

A genuine vacancy should lead back to a real employer and a verifiable application route. Tanzania’s Business Registrations and Licensing Agency offers online business services and describes search and information services for registered entities. A business registration record can help you check a name, but it does not prove that a particular vacancy or recruiter is genuine.

Check the name independently

Write down the employer name exactly as it appears in the advert. Visit the BRELA service through its official address and see what search or information services are available. The service describes access to extracts and reports; availability, account requirements and any fees should be checked there before proceeding.

Compare the result with the employer’s own website and contact details. Similar names can belong to different organisations. A scammer can also use the name of a legitimate company, so do not stop after finding a match.

Verify the role with the employer

Find the employer’s official careers page independently and check the role title, location, closing date and way to apply. If the vacancy came from a recruiter, ask the employer whether the agency is acting for it. Do not use a phone number supplied only in an unsolicited message as your sole confirmation.

Protect your documents

Send sensitive information only through a verified application route, and ask why it is required. Do not send your account password, one-time code or money to someone promising a job. Record the official URL and application deadline for your own reference.
