Working in Iringa: health programmes, a motorcycle dealer and a university

Iringa is a town in the southern highlands. On Work.tz its open roles come mainly from a health programme, with a technical post from the Tanzanian distributor of Bajaj motorcycles. Here is who was hiring, what the adverts ask for and what to check.

Who was hiring on Work.tz

On 18 October 2026, most open roles in Iringa came from FHI 360 (Family Health International): regional technical officers for HIV testing and prevention, PMTCT, TB services and community engagement, a senior regional technical officer for supply chain and a finance and grants officer. MeTL BAJAJ, which says it has been the sole authorised distributor of Bajaj Auto India in Tanzania since 2018, was recruiting a technician cum coordinator, open until 30 December 2026. What the adverts ask for

The FHI 360 regional technical officer post for HIV testing and prevention sits under the EpiC project and asks for a degree in medicine or nursing with national registration and at least four years of experience in HIV prevention, testing or related public health work; a master's in public health is an advantage. These are not entry posts. The MeTL BAJAJ post asks for a diploma in a technical trade, three to five years of experience and a valid driving licence. The technician coordinates workshop and field service work, supervises technicians and may be posted anywhere in Tanzania. Check the closing date before you start: the FHI 360 Iringa adverts closed on 24 or 31 October 2026.

University and training

The University of Iringa is based in the town; its library dates from 1994 and it was taking applications for 2026/2027. For graduates looking for a first post, the internship, trainee and permanent job guide explains what each kind of contract offers.

Getting there and around

Iringa is reached by long-distance bus from Dar es Salaam, Morogoro and Mbeya. Bus services and fares are regulated by LATRA, the Land Transport Regulatory Authority. For a field role, ask whether the employer provides a vehicle or pays for travel between sites.

Pay

Private-sector minimum wages from 1 January 2026 depend on the sector, not the town. The business sector minimum is TZS 200,500 a month, the industrial sector TZS 200,000, forestry TZS 185,000 and crop and animal production TZS 175,000. International programmes and NGOs set their own pay grades above these floors.

Apply safely

Never pay to apply, to be shortlisted or to be placed. If an agency advert does not name the employer, ask for the company name, the work address and the role reference before you travel. For public service posts, apply only through the official portal named in the advert. How to check a recruiter before you send documents.
