Requirements and responsibilities
Job Description
Organize interactions with regulatory authorities on neobank matters.
Monitor legislative changes; assess impacts on bank processes and ensure implementation control.
Prepare analytical materials, memos, letters, and meeting materials for regulators.
Establish and maintain effective communication with regulatory authorities.
Arrange and oversee financial monitoring and compliance processes and reporting on neobank matters.
Serve as the designated Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for MO Finance as required under Tanzania Anti-Money Laundering Act (Cap. 423).
File Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to Tanzania Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) within 24 hours of forming suspicion.
Maintain direct contact and communication with Tanzania Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) on all AML/CFT matters.
Establish, implement, and oversee internal reporting procedures for suspicious transactions.
Receive and evaluate internal suspicious activity reports from staff and determine whether to file STRs with FIU.
Develop and deliver AML/CFT training programs for all staff, ensuring awareness of money laundering risks and reporting obligations.
Conduct AML/CFT risk assessments and implement appropriate risk mitigation measures.
Ensure compliance with Prevention of Terrorism Act (Cap. 19) and related regulations.
Monitor compliance with customer due diligence (CDD) and enhanced due diligence (EDD) requirements.
Oversee sanctions screening processes and ensure compliance with UN and local sanctions lists.
Prepare and submit regulatory reports to Bank of Tanzania and FIU within required timelines.
Coordinate regulatory examinations, audits, and inspections related to AML/CFT.
Maintain AML/CFT policies, procedures, and controls in line with FIU guidelines and international best practices.
Report directly to senior management and Board on AML/CFT compliance status and significant issues.
Ensure record retention for at least 5 years as required under AML regulations.
