Working in Morogoro: health projects, universities and the SGR to Dar es Salaam
Morogoro sits under the Uluguru mountains, one SGR stop west of Dar es Salaam. Two public universities are based here, and health programmes run regional offices in the city. Here is who was hiring and what to check before you move.

Who was hiring on Work.tz
On 18 October 2026, most open roles in Morogoro came from FHI 360 (Family Health International): regional technical officers for HIV and TB community engagement, HIV testing and prevention, PMTCT, TB services and strategic information, a regional clinical services coordinator and a finance and grants officer. Recruitment agencies listed a workshop supervisor (CNS Group), a sustainability manager (PRI) and a supervisor (Q-Sourcing), each for a client they did not name. See every open role in Morogoro.
Programme posts like these are usually tied to a project. Read the contract length and the duty station in each advert.
Universities as employers
Sokoine University of Agriculture is based in Morogoro and held its 48th graduation ceremony there on 8 October 2026. Mzumbe University has its main campus in Morogoro, with other campuses in Mbeya and Dar es Salaam. Public universities fill academic and support posts through their own notices and through the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat, so watch both the university sites and the Ajira portal.
Getting there and around
Morogoro is one of the two main stations on the SGR section from Dar es Salaam, with smaller stations at Pugu, Soga, Ruvu and Ngerengere; TRC says the Morogoro station was designed to reflect the Uluguru mountains. The line continues to Dodoma, and tickets are sold on TRC's SGR site. For field roles outside the city, ask whether the employer provides transport or pays a travel allowance.
Pay
Private-sector minimum wages from 1 January 2026 depend on the sector, not the city. The industrial sector minimum is TZS 200,000 a month, the business sector TZS 200,500 and crop and animal production TZS 175,000. Public and university posts pay by the salary scale printed in the advert.
Apply safely
Never pay to apply, to be shortlisted or to be placed. If an agency advert does not name the employer, ask for the company name, the work address and the role reference before you travel. For public service posts, apply only through the official portal named in the advert. How to check a recruiter before you send documents.
