Welder

Job Description

Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and technical specifications.

Prepare materials for welding by cutting, shaping, grinding, and cleaning metal components.

Perform welding using appropriate welding techniques and processes.

Fabricate and assemble metal structures, fixtures, and components according to specifications.

Measure, mark, and scribe materials to ensure accuracy.

Operate hand tools, grinders, welding machines, positioners, and other fabrication equipment.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while adhering to safety procedures.

Coordinate with supervisors and coworkers to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.

Handle and transport materials using equipment such as forklifts and cranes where required.

Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to ensure they meet quality standards.

Identify and resolve fabrication and welding issues during production.

Repair and maintain welding tools and fabrication equipment.

Provide recommendations for improvements in design, fabrication methods, and material utilization.

Supervise and guide shop helpers or junior team members when assigned.

Carry out repair work, design layout, material estimation, and other fabrication-related activities.
