Fishing and aquaculture pay: identify wages and costs
Working at a fish farm, on a vessel or under a catch-sharing arrangement can involve very different payment terms.

Mainland private sector. These are statutory minimums for the listed categories, not average salaries or take-home pay. They are not a Zanzibar or public-service pay table, and a contract can pay more.
Choose the right category
The schedule groups fishing, fish farming and aquaculture in a distinct agricultural row. It provides an employee wage floor; it does not turn a catch-sharing business arrangement into a fixed salary.
Questions to settle before accepting
Check the legal employer, worksite, time away, safety equipment, cold-storage tasks and responsibility for fuel or ice. Ask how any share is calculated after costs.
Make a fair comparison
Separate operating money from wages in your records. Keep a copy of the agreed formula if pay depends on a share of proceeds, and do not compare gross catch value with take-home income.
