Codes are copied as printed. Each points to the employer’s own salary structure; none of the adverts gave a shilling amount.
These are statutory minimums for the listed categories, not average salaries or take-home pay. They are not a Zanzibar or public-service pay table. Higher contractual wages can apply.

What the adverts show
All seven government posts were entry grades, Officer II or Daraja la II, and all asked for a degree in computer science, IT or a related field. Each institution printed its own code: TIRAS at the insurance regulator, TPCSS at the Posts Corporation, PGSS at the Open University and the National Sugar Institute, and ZPSE in Zanzibar. A code is evidence of the grade, not a cash figure; read how codes work.
Private employers
None of the four private adverts stated pay. The recruiter for ten software engineer posts asked for three to six years of experience and a bachelor’s degree; the security analyst post asked for one to three years. The three that were open on 12 October 2026 were all in Dar es Salaam. Roles for beginners are collected on junior tech jobs.
Which minimum applies
No legal minimum is set for developers as such. The floor follows the employer’s sector: a developer at a telecom operator falls under the telecommunication services row, one at a call centre under that row, and an employer whose sector the order does not list falls under the row for other sectors. The table shows the three rows for 2026.
Before you accept
Ask for the gross monthly salary in writing, and ask whether certification costs, a laptop and internet are paid by the employer. For a government post, ask for the amount that matches the printed code and your step before you sign. Then estimate what you keep with the take-home pay calculator.
