Your name

Tips for this CV

  • Copy the names of your awards and schools exactly from your certificates. The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat checked 80,481 certificates with NECTA, RITA and TRA in its last reported period, and a name that doesn't match slows you down.
  • Government notices ask for three reputable referees with reliable contacts, so have three ready, each with a phone number that works and who knows you listed them.
  • If your award is from outside Tanzania, say on the CV that it has been recognised. PSRS notices say foreign certificates must be recognised by TCU, NECTA or NACTVET.
  • This CV has no photo. The passport size photo PSRS asks for is uploaded on the Ajira Portal, so you don't need it on the page. Add one to a company CV only if the advert asks.
  • Put the region you live in, and say if you can move. Many adverts name a town and many government posts are placed around the country.

A good Tanzanian CV is plain: your name and contacts, a short summary aimed at this post, your work, your education and your referees. PSRS notices ask for three reputable referees with reliable contacts, so the form gives you room for three. PSRS also checked 80,481 certificates with NECTA, RITA and TRA in its last reported period, so write your awards exactly as they appear on the certificate.

What goes on a CV in Tanzania?

Put your full name as on your certificates, a phone that works, an email you check, and the town you live in. Follow with two or three lines on what you offer, your jobs with the newest first, then education. If you are new, put field attachment, volunteering and projects where work would go.

  • Write what you did and what came of it, such as: kept stock records for two shops and found a shortage of 40 cartons.
  • Add registration numbers if your profession has them.
  • Keep it to two pages, or one if you're starting out.

Is the government format different?

On the Ajira Portal you fill in your details in the portal itself and upload certified copies, a signed letter and a recent passport size photo. A CV file doesn't replace them. Use this builder for company jobs, and use it to get your details in order before you fill in the portal.

The PSRS notice of 21 October 2026 also says Form IV and Form VI result slips, testimonials and partial transcripts are not accepted as attachments. Read the same part of your own notice.

Why no photo and no fancy design?

A plain column is easy to read on a phone and easy for software to read. Date of birth, tribe, religion and marital status aren't needed unless the advert asks.

The builder's headings are in English, and you can type your entries in either language. Follow the language of the advert.

How do I save it as a PDF on a phone?
