What the adverts show
Five of the 12 were still open on 12 October 2026, and reception posts made up half the list. The two Absa adverts ask staff to achieve sales and service targets. The regulator’s Receptionist II post asks for a Form IV certificate with passes in English and Kiswahili and a certificate in reception or telephone operation. None of the private adverts gave a figure.
Which minimum applies
The floor depends on who employs you, not on the desk you sit at. A receptionist at a commercial bank falls under the bank row, one at a microfinance lender under that row, and an agent employed by a specialist call centre under the call-centre row. The 2026 figures in the table run from TZS 200,500 for business to TZS 733,000 for commercial banks.
Shifts and targets
Customer roles often run on rosters. Ask for the shift pattern, transport after late shifts and which part of pay depends on targets, and budget on the fixed wage only. The call-centre pay and bank pay pages cover those sectors in more detail.
Before you accept
Ask for the gross monthly wage, allowances, probation and contract length in writing. For the government post, ask for the amount that matches TIRAS 2 and the step you start on. Then estimate take-home pay with the take-home pay calculator.
