Media and advertising pay: employment versus assignments
A newsroom employee and a freelance camera operator can be offered money on different bases. Start by naming the arrangement.

Mainland private sector. These are statutory minimums for the listed categories, not average salaries or take-home pay. They are not a Zanzibar or public-service pay table, and a contract can pay more.
Choose the right category
The programme, advertising and media row is a monthly employee minimum. It is not a price list for an article, campaign, shoot or use of creative work.
Questions to settle before accepting
For assignments, define deliverables, revision rounds, equipment, travel and payment milestones. For employment, clarify evening coverage, weekend shifts and ownership terms in the contract.
Make a fair comparison
Compare the time needed for research, production and revisions as well as the visible deliverable. An assignment fee cannot be labelled a monthly salary.
