Requirements and responsibilities

Job Description

Operations

Operate and monitor oil-injected and oil-free air compressors in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Monitor compressor operating parameters, including pressure, temperature, oil level, dew point, and compressed air quality.

Ensure a continuous and reliable supply of compressed air to all production areas.

Perform routine start-up and shutdown of compressor systems in accordance with operational procedures.

Monitor the performance of air dryers, receivers, filters, cooling systems, and associated utility equipment to ensure efficient operation.

Preventive Maintenance

Carry out preventive maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and the approved maintenance schedule.

Inspect compressors, air dryers, filters, air receivers, cooling systems, pumps, and other related utility equipment for proper operation.

Replace filters, lubricants, oil separators, and other consumable components as required.

Maintain optimum compressor performance through routine inspections, cleaning, and proper housekeeping practices.

Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in a timely manner.

Troubleshooting and Repairs

Diagnose equipment faults using operating data, inspections, and technical manuals.

Perform mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs on compressors and auxiliary equipment.

Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and restore operations with minimal downtime while maintaining safety standards.

Coordinate with the maintenance team during major overhauls, shutdowns, and equipment upgrades.

Report recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability.

Documentation

Record compressor operating parameters, maintenance activities, breakdown reports, and repair history accurately.

Maintain equipment history files and preventive maintenance records.

Prepare daily operational and maintenance reports.

Report equipment abnormalities, operational issues, and performance concerns to the Utility Supervisor.

Safety and Compliance

Comply with all company Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and statutory regulations.

Wear and use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.

Participate actively in safety meetings, toolbox talks, emergency response drills, and risk assessments.

Ensure all work is performed in accordance with lockout/tagout (LOTO) and other safety procedures where applicable.

Continuous Improvement

Participate in technical training and skills development programs.

Recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and energy conservation.

Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Utilities Department.

Promote best maintenance and operational practices to achieve maximum equipment availability and performance.
