Copied from the Second Schedule of GN 605A and checked against the PDF on 2 November 2026. A few cells differ by a shilling or two from what the other columns suggest, such as domestic workers at 18,462 a week and 36,923 a fortnight. They are as printed.
If you are paid by the day
Take the Day column for your sector, and multiply it by the days you worked. That is the least your employer may pay.
A bar in Mbeya offers TZS 6,000 a day. The floor is TZS 7,500. You are TZS 1,500 short each day, or TZS 39,000 over 26 days. A labourer for a Class VI contractor works six days. The floor is TZS 15,327 a day, so TZS 91,962 for the week. A guard at a local security company works 22 days. The floor is TZS 7,577 a day, so TZS 166,694.
The order prints the day rate without saying how many hours it covers. The numbers fit about 7.5 hours (TZS 1,000 an hour and 7,500 a day in the bar row), which is a 45 hour week over six days. That is our reading, not the order's words. If your ordinary day is longer, compare with the Hour column too and ask how the extra time is being paid.
Overtime, rest days and holidays come on top
These are floors for ordinary hours. The Employment and Labour Relations Act says overtime pays at least one and a half times the basic wage, and work on a rest day or a public holiday pays double.
On the bar floor of TZS 1,000 an hour, eight hours on a public holiday comes to at least TZS 16,000, and ten overtime hours come to at least TZS 15,000. Use the overtime calculator for your own numbers, and read working hours, overtime and night work for the limits.
What else the order gives you
The order also says:
- Your employer may pay more than the table, never less (paragraph 4).
- A leave travel allowance once in every two years of continuous service with the same employer, on top of paid annual leave (paragraph 5(2)).
- A subsistence allowance when your employer sends you to work away from your station, as you agree between you (paragraph 5(3)).
- Truck drivers get an allowance for mileage, long stays away and loading and unloading, as negotiated (paragraph 5(4)).
- If you were already on better terms when the order began, you keep them for as long as you stay with that employer (paragraph 6).
The Order revokes the 2022 one, so old tables on other pages don't count any more.
Which row is yours?
Go by what the employer does, not your job title. On our reading, a cleaner employed by a commercial bank falls under commercial banks, while a cleaner hired by a contractor may not. The order doesn't spell this out. If the row isn't clear, ask your employer in writing which category it uses. Any sector the table doesn't name falls under the last row, TZS 175,000 a month.
The order applies to all employers and employees in the private sector. It isn't a table for public servants, and it isn't Zanzibar's. We have not confirmed a Zanzibar rate from an official notice, so we don't print one here.
If you are paid less
Ask for your payslip or a written statement of your pay, and keep your own record of days and hours. Raise it with the employer first if you safely can. If that fails, you can take the dispute to the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration. Our CMA guide gives the steps. Its FAQ gives 60 days for most disputes and 30 days for unfair termination, so don't wait.
For monthly pay, the minimum wage checker compares an offer with your sector in one step, and the monthly table with PDF pages shows where each figure sits in the order. Looking for work? See jobs for beginners in Tanzania. Applying is free.
