These are statutory minimums for the listed categories, not average salaries or take-home pay. They are not a Zanzibar or public-service pay table. Higher contractual wages can apply.

What TGS C tells you

Six council posts, four for office management secretaries and two for records assistants, printed TGS C as their salary scale. The adverts give no shilling amount for TGS C, and Work.tz does not copy amounts from unofficial tables online. Ask the council for the current figure and the step you start on, and read what an advert code tells you.

The public-service floor

On 1 May 2025 the President announced that the lowest monthly salary in the public service would rise from TZS 370,000 to TZS 500,000 from July 2025. That is a floor for public servants; it does not give the amount for a particular grade such as TGS C.

Private offices

None of the five private adverts named an amount, and three of them were open on 12 October 2026, all in Dar es Salaam. A private employer must pay at least the minimum for its own sector; the table shows the 2026 rows for industry and business. See open administration roles.

Before you accept

For a council post, check the appointment letter for the scale, the step and the start date, and keep the advert. For a private post, ask for the gross monthly wage, probation and contract length in writing, then estimate take-home pay with the take-home pay calculator.
